Accommodation

Guests at The Dorset Yarn Retreat will stay at Moortown Farmhouse, a warm and characterful country home with two comfortable guest rooms. The bedrooms are light and inviting, with comfy bedding, pretty fabrics, traditional furnishings and views through elegant sash windows.

The farmhouse also offers welcoming communal spaces in which to relax and unwind. A dedicated Yarn Room provides a cosy and comfortable setting for group yarn activities, with plenty of space to gather, create and share ideas.

A cozy living room corner with a brown upholstered armchair holding a large yellow pillow and a green and white striped knitted blanket. Next to the armchair, a side table with a beige lamp, and yellow curtains with star patterns are visible.
A kitchen corner with shelves holding yarn, blankets, and crocheted items. Bright window revealing greenery outside, with a marble countertop, a sink with a gold faucet, and cleaning supplies nearby.
A sideboard with knitting supplies, yarn, and a stuffed toy, next to a large window with stained glass details.
Two beds with patchwork quilts, yarn balls, and crochet squares in a sunlit bedroom with large window and yellow curtains.
A wood-burning stove with a black chimney pipe in a fireplace nook, stacked firewood to the right, a wicker basket to the left, and a framed black and white landscape photo of a house on a hill with trees and a glowing moon on the wall above.
Table set for a meal with bowls, glasses, napkins, forks, knives, spoons, salt and pepper shakers, a glass pitcher, a small vase with orange flowers, and a decorative tray, near a window showing greenery outside.

Retreat Activity

Join us for our seasonal retreat activity! This month: knitting dinky pumpkins stuffed with our very own Dorset Down wool!  Knit your pumpkin using your own preferred small circumference method or take advantage of learning the flexi needles method which we will be demonstrating.  This workshop will teach you how to use three flexi needles to achieve a small circumference in knitting.  Simple and elegant, we are a huge advocate of this innovation and keen to share it.  Flexi needles will be provided for use at the workshop but you can, of course, choose to use DPNs or magic loop to complete your project.

Person knitting with green yarn, wearing a beige knit sweater and beige pants.
